WHMIS Training Program

An Employee Training Aid for Canadian Digital and Screen Printing Companies

$49 for SGIA Members

This program is designed to help Canadian digital and screen printing company owners, managers and employees comply with requirements of the Workplace Hazardous Materials System (WHMIS), which obligates company owners to train employees about the hazards they face on the job. This program covers container labeling, material safety data sheets, personal protective equipment and more. Each guidebook/video program contains both English and French-Canadian versions.

The video program, which is narrated in both English and French-Canadian, provides an introduction to the potential hazards of chemical products used in the digital and screen printing industry; explanations of material safety data sheets and chemical warning labels; a number of pertinent definitions; specific plant situations which illustrate the use of chemical products; and recommended personal protective equipment and clothing to be used in safeguarding employee health and safety. The video program and its accompanying materials are to be administered at the time of employment and re-administered on an annual (or more frequent) basis or when a new hazard is introduced into the workplace.

The program is accompanied by a complete instructor's guide, a transcription of WHMIS regulations, a pre/post test to determine the quality of employee training and reference materials on a wide variety of related subjects. Program support materials come in a WHMIS Training & Compliance binder designed to deep all of your WHMIS materials in one place.

The program takes approximately 30 minutes to present, and managers are urged to allow additional time for answering questions from employees, administering the pre/post test, and outlining situations specific to the individual company.

Note: The video program and materials are designed to assist with WHMIS compliance. Additional training must be given by the employer to achieve full compliance with federal WHMIS regulations.
